Get recruited faster by sharing your resume and profile with recruiters and hiring agencies

Making your resume searchable means recruiters and hiring agencies can contact you after finding your resume and some of your profile information if you fill it out.

How to make your resume searchable

  1. Sign in to your USAJOBS profile.
  2. Go to Resumes & documents in the menu.
  3. If you don't have a resume in your profile, you will need to upload or build one with resume builder.
  4. Select Make searchable on the resume you want recruiters or hiring agencies to see. You can change this at any time.

What happens when your resume is searchable

  • Recruiters can search for and view your resume.
  • They may contact you about job opportunities.
  • Your resume is available for up to 12 months. You can renew it or make a new resume searchable at any time.

How can I improve my chances of recruiters or hiring agencies finding me?

  • Keep your resume detailed and up to date.
  • Use keywords that match your skills and experience.
  • Update your search preferences regularly.
  • Complete your profile.

What can recruiters and hiring agencies see?

We'll mark the information in your USAJOBS profile that recruiters and hiring officials can see.

Recruiters and hiring agencies can see or search for you by the following information:

  • Contact information.
  • Citizenship.
  • Hiring paths you choose in your profile.
  • If you are a displaced federal employee who qualifies for CTAP or ICTAP.
  • The agency you work for, job series and highest GS grade or equivalent if you are a current federal employee.
  • Your education or degrees.
  • Any language skills you have.
  • Any travel or relocation job preferences you add to your profile.
  • Any appointment type or work schedule preferences you add to your profile.

Your preferences help agencies understand what types of jobs you're interested in.
