How does USAJOBS use my profile information?
Your USAJOBS profile gives us important information about you, your experience and what kind of jobs you want.
You must complete these required sections of your profile to apply to a job:
- Contact information
- Citizenship
- Federal service
- Military service
Filling in the optional parts of your USAJOBS profile can help you apply for jobs or help recruiters and hiring agencies match you with possible jobs.
Your contact and profile information
We send the hiring agency your contact and profile information with your resume and any documents you upload. Hiring agencies may use that information to help complete your job application or they may ask you to verify your information.
If you have selected a resume as searchable, recruiters and hiring agencies can see some of your profile information to help match you with jobs. All information visible to recruiters and hiring managers is marked in your profile.
Job preferences
In your profile, you can add your job preferences for:
- Your travel and relocation preferences—tell us where you want to work, if you are willing to move or if you are willing to travel for a job.
- Your appointment type or work schedule preferences—tell us what type of work you want (appointment type) and your preferred work schedule.
If you have selected a resume as searchable, recruiters and hiring agencies can see these preferences to help match you with jobs. All information visible to recruiters and hiring managers is marked in your profile.
Demographics
We use your demographics information to find out if our recruitment efforts are reaching all segments of the population, consistent with federal equal employment opportunity laws. Completing the demographics section is optional. We don't provide your demographics to anyone involved in reviewing your application or to the public and we don't keep this information in your personnel file.
