Create a job alert to get new jobs emailed to you
You can create a job alert to stay updated on jobs you're interested in. When you set up a job alert, we'll search for jobs that match your criteria and send the new jobs. You can choose to receive email notifications daily, weekly or monthly.
You can create up to 10 job alerts. Each alert stays active for one year unless you update or renew it.
You can manage your job alerts in your USAJOBS profile.
How to save a job alert
- Sign in to USAJOBS or create a profile. You’ll need a profile to save a job alert.
- Search for a job or location. You can use filters to narrow down your search results.
- On your search results page, select the Turn on job alert button.
- Name your job alert—it’ll make it easier to find your job alert in your USAJOBS profile.
- Choose how often you want a job alert email. You can choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Never.
- Select Add new job alert.
Tips on using job alerts
- Broader keywords, like nurse or program, will get you more results. If you’re not getting jobs, try using a broader search or fewer search filters.
- Using filters or specific keywords (like geriatric nurse) will get you fewer jobs that more closely match your criteria.
- Create separate alerts for different job types or locations. You can create up to 10 job alerts.
- Get daily emails if you're looking for specific or competitive jobs. Some job announcements close quickly or after a certain number of applications.
- Manage all alerts in your USAJOBS profile.
- Alerts expire after one year. Renew them in your profile.
Not getting job alert emails?
- Make sure your alert is active (not archived).
- Check your email address in your profile.
- Look in your spam or junk folder.
- Review your filters—your search may be too narrow.
How to manage job alerts in your profile
You can manage your job alerts in the My jobs section of your profile under the Job alerts.
Select a job alert to view more details or make changes. From there, you can:
- View or edit your alert—update and save your keywords, filters or search criteria.
- Update notification preferences—Change how often you receive emails or pause your emails.
- Renew an alert—Job alerts expire after one year. Select Renew to keep it active. You can also Unarchive a job alert in the Archive tab.
- Archive an alert—Stop notifications without deleting the alert. Archiving an alert adds it to your Archive tab. You can delete alerts in the archive tab.
- Delete an alert—You won’t receive notifications after you delete an alert.
